Hello Cotati Rohnert Park Community.
My name is Shelly Thelen. I am excited to join the administrative staff at Lawrence E. Jones and Technology High as Assistant Principal. I grew up in the Bay Area, where I have been fortunate to teach mathematics for the past 18 years at the high school and middle school levels. I have always taken on teacher leader positions. I have guided teachers in evolving their practice by implementing a growth mindset curriculum, lesson study practices, and shifting the traditional assessment path to student-driven practices. I attended the University of California San Diego and received a BA in psychology; I earned my teaching credential and first master's at Dominican University. I recently attended San Francisco State, where I earned a second masters in school administration. My husband and I live in Novato and are parents to two teenagers and one dog. On weekends you will find me working in my garden, cooking, and going to swim meets. My educational philosophy is that all students can achieve their academic goals when provided a supportive, safe, and encouraging environment. I am committed to the education and social development of all students at Lawrence E. Jones and Technology High, and I look forward to meeting you.
